Many Scottish Jews served in in the First and Second World Wars, with over a hundred killed in WWI. Even earlier, Scottish Jews also fought In the Boer War, and in 1898 a Glasgow Jewish Volunteer Association was formed in Garnethill Synagogue. Scottish Jewish women also served in the Timber Corps, Transport Command, the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, and the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
